Our Story

“We help people take care of their homes”~Adam Ford, Owner

Upkeep Group is a unique, full-service home maintenance company that takes the stress out of maintaining your home. When you become a member of the Home Upkeep Program, your home's preventive and routine maintenance is planned out for the next 12 months in advance. This proactive approach to scheduling maintenance means you don't have to think about which services you need and when. They do all the work for you.

Our Story

Upkeep was founded in 2012 by two brothers, Adam and Joel Ford. Originally focused solely on renovations, they were surprised at the demand for maintenance services that their clients would look to them for in the years after, since they already knew and trusted them with their homes. Together they saw a need in the market for the equivalent of a high-quality service, similar to a facility management company, but for homes. Afterall, not everyone has the time, desire, tools, or skills to keep their home maintained and functioning well. They took the leap, building their company, while also providing renovation services to fund their growth.

Over the last five years Upkeep Group has built a steadfast community of customers and a strong business. Their advantage lies in their one stop shop approach to home maintenance, while providing a stellar experience to their customers. The onboarding process is personal, with Adam meeting each client to work through their needs and customize a plan for them. Whether you select weekly lawn maintenance, seasonal window cleaning, or an annual furnace tune up, your Home Upkeep Plan is specifically designed to meet you and your home’s needs. The additional benefits they gain as an Upkeep member include having access to friendly and skilled service technicians for smaller jobs around the house. Plus with 24/7 access to their dedicated service staff, customers can rest easy knowing who to call if an emergency arises.

The Next Big Step

Until now Upkeep Group has not done much in the way of advertising for fear of having to turn customers away, so as to control growth in order to maintain high-quality service. They have intentionally relied on word of mouth amongst their customers.  However, now they have the infrastructure in place, a proven model and a loyal customer base that they are ready to build on. They plan to phase out their renovation services, focusing entirely on their core business of home upkeep. They are seeking a $25,000 loan through ATB LendR to assist them in this growth by:

  • Bringing more of their current service offering in-house (versus in some cases coordinating contractors), keeping full control over personnel, costs and quality assurance. This requires staff, training and equipment.

  • Hiring a dedicated accounts manager to help maintain their customer service experience as they grow
